Q: What is going to happen to the Jayhawk State Theatre of Kansas?

- The theatre will be renovated, and restored in the spirit of its' architects. It
will serve its' original purpose as Topeka's premier movie palace featuring:
Broadway shows via satellite; independent film; theatre productions; concerts;
and more.
- The Jayhawk main office now features The Upstage Gallery. After
renovation, that room will be the Jayhawk lobby. The theatre will retain its art
gallery in the banquet hall. Jayhawk plans include a museum of theatrical
and cinnematic history, and relics from times long-past.
Q: What does The Upstage Gallery offer?
A: - Non-Profit gallery space for the community.
- A good opportunity for a cultural experience downtown.

- The gallery is part of the Jayhawk renovation capital campaign. It
distributes pamphlets, hosts events, and fulfills the Jayhawk Theatre's mission
to provide a venue for local arts. The Jayhawk will always have an art gallery,
and a museum.
Q: Who may display art at The Upstage?
A: - Regional artists are our focus, with emphasis on those from the
Topeka area. Students from Washburn University, Topeka are especially
invited to participate.

Q: What is an artist's commission at The Upstage?
A: - 70% of the retail price is the artist's commission. The remaining 30%
is used for gallery operation.
- Donations made to the Jayhawk State Theatre of Kansas capital
campaign are 100% given to the Jayhawk Board of Directors treasurer.
Q: Can I find the Jayhawk Board-members at The Upstage Gallery?
A: Yes. The gallery is in fact the main office of the Jayhawk Board of
Directors. You must schedule a meeting with officers of the board, as they
have other jobs.
